Niagara Firms Leading the Way in Selling Canada to a World Wide Audience

Partnership with the Canadian Tourism Commission to produce first online tourism marketing conference in Ottawa this May

March 8, 2006, St. Catharines, Ontario - Niagara firms Courtois & Mather Creative, the Action Corporation, and A Couple of Chicks e-Marketing have partnered with the Canadian Tourism Commission (CTC), to produce The Online Canadian Travel Conference which will take place this year on May 15-17 at the Brookstreet Resort in Ottawa.

Promoted as Online Revealed Canada, the conference is a uniquely Canadian approach to the ever-changing online marketplace and what it means to hospitality suppliers, vendors, hotel groups, individual hotels, tourism operators, travel intermediaries, agencies and other Canadian travel professionals.

"If you don't have a major branded portal and vast marketing resources like Expedia, driving traffic to your website, property, attraction or destination is a confusing and complicated business," says Alicia Whalen, co-founder of A Couple of Chicks e-Marketing. Search marketing is an ever-changing and precarious endeavor for tourism professionals and hospitality marketers. The way people search for tourism products and make decisions on where to spend their travel dollars is changing. It's not just about top rankings in Google or Yahoo any more.

"Our original idea was to develop a seminar series and take it to major tourism markets across Canada. The goal was to help professionals understand how the Internet has changed tourism marketing and to demonstrate some of the best practices that are working throughout the industry," explains Jim Kalogerakos, VP of Business Development at Courtois & Mather.

"Its not just about getting eyeballs to your site or portal. You need to be able to track, measure ROI, and encourage repeat search behavior to be profitable," offers Paul Tomori of Action Corporation.

The Canadian Tourism Commission first learned about the seminar series in San Francisco at search marketing conference. The CTC's Executive Director, Marketing Strategy & Customer Relationship Management, Jens Thraenhart was intrigued by the pre-promotion the Niagara group was doing in San Francisco, and quickly saw the value for his constituents.

"The Internet and e-commerce are continually influencing and impacting the Canadian tourism and travel industry, and to be truly competitive and aggressive in today's marketplace, every sales and marketing professional in travel and hospitality needs to have an arsenal of knowledge and understanding to maximize marketing effectiveness and ROI," says Thraenhart. "Online Revealed Canada will do just that and we're pleased to be a partner in the first conference in Ottawa."

With speakers from online marketing research expert e-Marketer™ www.emarketer.com, and progressive destination marketing organization Travel Alberta www.travelalberta.com, among others, the event will give attendees insight into marketing and delivering Canadian tourism product on- and offline.

The premier conference in Ottawa will be first annual event changing locations to different major cities across Canada over the next five years.
